I downloaded this book to my Kindle in 2014 and, like the dozens of others I downloaded, I completely forgot about it. It's easy to do in our fast-paced, ever-changing world, especially when you have your spouse, kids, extended family, friends, job, and home to think about.
But, if what Dr. Ammon-Wexler says is true, the power of the mind - beyond what most of us think is capable - is available to us if we just follow the seven strategies in this book. 2/7/2017 0 Comments Gotta Have It: Unroll.MeThere are a lot of tools I’ve discovered and used lately that have helped me make the progress I’m making on this amazing journey toward self-actualization and a better life. To give all of you following along the tools to succeed, I will be sharing these tools one at a time in a series I’m calling Gotta Have It. Today’s tool: Unroll.Me
I promised you updates, and here's my first. How am I doing since I started the Better Than Before Challenge? Let's look at the details.
There is a poison infecting your body and mind in stealth mode, undetected. You can only fight it when you are aware of and accept its presence.
Quite a shocking tagline, isn't it? But Scheie delivers what he promises, which is why I'm recommending this book today. Astrology. Whether you follow it faithfully, think of it as a bit of fun, or shake your head in amazement that people put stock in it, you have an opinion on it. As for me, I've always thought of it as a harmless distraction from the sometimes grim reality in which we live.
This year, according to Chinese astrology, is the Year of the Fire Rooster. It is also considered the first of a new, nine-year cycle of life in the universe according to numerology. So what does that mean for us, and why is Mama Q.0 bringing it up? 1/30/2017 0 Comments Collaborating with Children!I am happy to announce that an article I wrote has been published by Parent.co! Today is the first day you can read "3 Ways Collaborating with Kids Builds Character" on the Parent.co site, and I'm excited to share it with you all. If you have kids, you know that a main principle of parenthood is building the ever-elusive Character. What is Character, and why do I need to help my kids get some? Dictonary.com defines character as "the aggregate of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing," "moral or ethical quality," and "qualities of honesty, courage, or the like; integrity." So it's no wonder everyone wants to get some of that into their kids! But how do we do it? Is it through lesson plans, strict rules, and a rewards-and-punishments system? Nah. Mostly, we help our kids build character by example. When we have character, it rubs off on our kids. But just going about our days won't cut it. It takes a concentrated effort. Collaborating is one of those activities that can help, and you can read more about it in my article. Many thanks to Parent.co for publishing my work, and thanks to you all for reading! All my best, This is a piece of advice that I have given myself over and over for many years, but only recently have I become determined to follow it for my own well-being and the continued success of my business, my family, and my sanity.
So, what does it mean? 1/25/2017 0 Comments America's Cheapest Family Gets You Right on the Money by Steve & Annette Economides
I put this book on my Amazon wish list based on a recommendation I read about recently, and my wife was sweet enough to put it in the cart and buy it for me as a surprise. (Did I ever mention that I have the most amazing wife on the planet? It's true. She's perfect.)
I wanted this book because I knew it was the true story of a family much larger than mine who learned how to play the money game and win it. I wanted to pick up some tips from them on how to get my family's money back on track for good. I love a good quote. Nothing quite says what we want to say, but can't seem to find the words to do so, like a quote from a famous person. That's why we use them everywhere, from t-shirts to bumper stickers, social media to daily planners. Quotes are a part of us. Try this at home Since I read Better Than Before, I've been vaguely obsessed with Gretchen Rubin and all she does. I immediately added her other book to my Want to Read list, subscribed to her blog posts, and started listening to the back list of her Happier podcast. One of my favorite segments of the Happier podcast is 'Try This At Home,' in which Gretchen and her sister, Elizabeth, give us a tip for something we can do to make our lives a little bit happier today. The topic for today? "Choose the Quote for Your Yearbook Page." I chose to take this a little bit further, and choose the quote that would define 2017 for me. Mama Q.0's 2017 Defining Quote My quote comes from Eleanor Roosevelt, and sums up exactly what I want this year to be about: "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do." I'm going to use this quote as an affirmation by adding it to my Poisoned app. (I'll talk more about that in another post.) I'm also going to use it to decorate the cover of my next Bullet Journal, which I'll talk about, again, in another post. Where do you feature? What's your yearbook page quote? And how will you use it to change your life in 2017? Tell me about it in the comments, or send me a message through my contact page. Best wishes for an amazing 2017! |
